Michael and Gwendolyn Slack v. Joseph J. Coffey and Merrill Lynch, NYSE 2003-014692. Action for breach of fiduciary duty and negligent supervision. Settled in favor of the Slacks in January, 2005, in an amount required to be kept confidential. The terms of the agreement can be reviewed by examining the Joseph J. Coffey CRD which appears on the websites of the NASD and the Pennsylvania Securities Commission.

PWI, INC. v. Charles Denmon; Adams County Court of Common Pleas; 11-S-108; July, 2011; action by PWI against our client to enforce a post employment restrictive covenant. FOUND: Restrictive covenant not enforceable because it was agreed to post-hire, without additional consideration.

Meet Attorney Joseph C. Korsak

Attorney Joe C. Korsak

Attorney Korsak was born in 1950 in the Bronx, New York. His family moved to New Jersey in 1955 where he received his grammar school and high school education. Between 1967 and 1971, he earned a in History from the Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation, he was employed by Marsh & McLennan in New York as an insurance broker placing coverage for pharmaceutical risks including Bristol-Myers, Ciba-Geigy, and Cooper Laboratories.

In 1975, he received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toledo and accepted an appointment as a judicial clerk with the Pennsylvania 19th Judicial District in York, Pennsylvania. In 1976, he began his law practice. As the practice developed towards the labor/employment area, he returned to school in 1979 to Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa., to obtain an LL.M. (Masters) in Labor Law. The degree was awarded in 1983. Attorney Korsak is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania state courts, the Federal Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

As he begins his forty fourth year in practice, his emphasis is on investor damage claims and employment law. Representative clients include: Klinge Corporation; Transportation Resource Group, Inc.; Electronic Manufacturing Services Group, Inc.; Pre-Mach, Inc.; Telecom Business Solutions, Inc.; DYH Business Brokers; Columbia Family Restaurant, Inc.; Central Penn Building & Remodeling; York Guitars, Inc.; and CIA, Inc.  

Beginning February, 2009, Attorney Korsak became Of Counsel to the Mazza Law Group, PC, a general practice firm in State College, Pennsylvania.

Son Adam (PSU, 1999, ACCT) is a CPA employed by Tyco Electronics in Harrisburg, Pa., as Manager of Technical Accounting; son Michael (PSU, 2001, WOOD PRODUCTS) is the owner of Sun Earth Design, LLC, in Enfield, New Hampshire; and daughter Ann (American Univ., 2005, ACCT) is a consultant with Deloitte Consulting LLP in Annapolis, MD.  Grandchildren Joseph V. Korsak, Will H. Korsak, and Elizabeth C. Korsak are on Penn State's early admissions list.
